A special community screening of the award-winning smart meter documentary Take Back Your Power has been organised by a volunteer in Dunedin.
The details for the screening are as follows:
DATE: Saturday June 20th
TIME: 5pm
VENUE: The Pioneer Hall, 45 George St, Port Chalmers, Dunedin.
The screening is free however, if you would like to bring a donation that can be passed along to the producer of Take Back Your Power this would be appreciated.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions about smart meters after the screening.

Take Back Your Power is an award-winning documentary on the smart meter issue. It covers the health, privacy and financial risks posed by so-called “smart” meters and the “smart” grid.

Viewing Take Back Your Power is usually enough to convince most people that while the introduction of smart meters may benefit companies in the electricity industry, these meters are not a good thing for the general public.
Hosting a community screening of Take Back Your Power is one of the best ways to raise awareness of the smart meter issue. This could be as simple as inviting family and friends to you home to watch the DVD (or you can stream the film from the website Take Back Your Power
Or, if you are more ambitious, you could hold a screening in your local community hall, church or other venue (such as sports club etc.)

The website www.takebackyourpower.net is reporting how the family of a 74 year old South Dallas man blame the smart meter which had been recently installed at his home for the fire that led to his death. Mr James Humphrey, who had arthritis, was unable to escape from his home when it caught fire and the smoke and flames beat back neighbours who tried to rescue him.

The website of the award-winning smart meter documentary Take Back Your Power (www.takebackyourpower.net) has reported on how emails of the former president of the California Public Utilities Commission show that he was aware of adverse health effects from smart meters from as early as 2010 but chose not to do anything to protect public health. He was similarly aware of the problems with high bills after smart meter installations but did nothing to stop the smart meter roll out from going ahead.
