Stop Smart Meters Australia has reported that an American scientist has called for new legislation to protect the public from EMR created by “smart meters”..
The site reports:
“As American FCC (Federal Communications Commission) guidelines for human exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields are based on the same outdated premises as the Australian standard, this document could be used as a basis to write to Australian legislators. The FCC’s regulations, similar to Australian regulations, “protect only against gross overheating and do not protect from biological harm caused by low (‘non-thermal’) levels of microwaves”.
New Zealand’s national standard for radiofrequency radiation produced by “smart meters” and other devices such as cell phones (NS 2772.1:1999) is similarly designed to protect against thermal injury only, not other potential adverse effects such as DNA damage and cancer.

“Dr Conrad also discusses how the dangers associated with creating perpetually hackable wireless mesh networks which provide a tapping device on every home, can be used as a potential weapon of mass debilitation and contain a power cut-off switch to every home.” SOURCE: http://stopsmartmeters.com.au/2014/06/01/new-legislation-urgently-needed-for-safety-of-new-metering-systems/

The British Daily Telegraph has reported that British children will be the subject of an experiment in which a special app will be loaded into their mobile phone to record the duration of calls, texts and internet use.
You can read the full story here:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/10842271/Wifi-fears-three-year-
study-into-health-risks-of-mobiles-to-childrens-brains.html
NB: Research into the use of cordless home phones and mobile phones by NZ childrenby Dr. Mary Redmayne has shown that many young NZers are making such frequent use of these devices that they are at risk of developing a brain tumour later in life.
See this study for details:
http://www.ehjournal.net/content/12/1/5
Special notes to parents:
One of the best things parents can do to reduce the risks to their chilldren from cordless and mobile phone exposure is to make sure the home phone is the variety that has a cord (NOT a cordless phone – as cordless phones have similar risks to cell phones.) It is also important to give careful thought to whether or not a child should have a cell phone – and to enforce sensible rules (such as that cell phones go in a basket in the hall at night and are not kept in bedrooms) if it is considered necessary for a child or teenager to have a cell phone available.

Brian Stein, who was the CEO of the largest frozen and chilled food product company in great Britain before he retired, has spoken out about electrosensitivity and the problems with the standards for non-ionsing radiation developed by International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which he says are designed to protect the mobile phone industry, not human health.
Brian Stein suffers from electrohypersensitivity and discusses his own experiences of how he developed EHS during his fifiteenth year of using a mobile phone on his job…he continued to use the phone until his symptoms became so severe, he could not use a cell phone for even one second without excrutiating pain. Even worse, he began to suffer from similar symptoms when using other technologies…
